Inclement Weather

All activities for the evenign of Wednesday, February 10, 2010 have been cancelled due to the weather conditions. Our full inclement weather policy is below.

Thank you and see you on Sunday.

Inclement Weather Policy

Unless the Sheriff declares a Level 3 Snow Emergency, we will be open for Sunday service. We understand that not everyone will feel safe or be able to make it in some conditions, but we will be open for those that can and do venture out. We would not want someone going through the trouble of getting out in the elements only to find a closed building.

Wednesday nights are more likely to be cancelled due to the added element of darkness, making things even more hazardous. We will always do everything we can to get the word out in the event that we were to cancel a service or activity (Facebook, church website, Twitter, e-mail, etc.). If you have any questions regarding this policy, feel free to contact us.

After the Christmas Offering

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2009 Christmas offering. Your generosity is wonderful. The ministry in Southeast Asia was greatly blessed as was the Assemblies of God Center for the Blind.

Christmas Offering

We know that Christmas is much more about giving than it is receiving. It is our way of showing gratitude for the gift of having a relationship with our Creator that was given through the birth of Jesus.

In that light, we will be taking a special Christmas offering on Sunday, December 20. This offering will be split in two ways. Half will go to the Assemblies of God Center for the Blind to help them provide braille and audio literature to those who have no sight. The other half will go to missions work in Southeast Asia where Christ-followers are often under heavy persecution. We will have a special guest missionary with us that day who works in that part of the world.

Our goal is for everyone to give something in this offering (100% participation).

Here's the challenge: everyone give the equivalent of one day's wages. This is an equal sacrifice. It may require a change in some Christmas plans (or it may not), but it will make a significant impact far greater than any other gift we can give or receive on Christmas Day. Thank you. Not everyone will be able to give a full day's wage, but everyone can give something. Let's reach our goal of 100% participation!

Faith Promises

Just wanted to pass along the incredible news...

We had set a goal of $7800 a month for missions for this coming year. This is almost a 15% increase over the current year's average.

Well, a few more faith promises came in this past weekend and we are right now over $8000 a month promised for missions!!! This is a God thing!

If you have not yet had opportunity to turn in a faith promise you may still do so.

Thank you everyone for your faith and obedience as we invest in the Kingdom of God around the world.

Awesome!

We just wanted to take a moment and share some exciting news. Sunday, November 1 we hosted Jim & Meg Thacker, missionaries to Burundi in Africa as part of our missions convention. Jim & Meg are incredible people doing amazing things for God.

There are many unreached tribes and villages in this country that was devastated by a brutal 15 year civil war. There is much anger and hurt still present among the people. It is a hard place.

When the Thackers went to Burundi about 5 years ago, there was ONE Assemblies of God church in the entire country. In the 4 plus years they were there, they saw 47 new churches planted! Amazing! Plus, they were able to fund and facilitate the building of 20 church buildings for these new congregations. Only God can do this kind of work.

In the summer of 2010, the Thackers will be heading back to Africa. Jim has a vision for 300 people/churches to give a one time gift of $500 which will provide for 20 more church buildings to be built. When this challenge was presented to the people of Capital City, several stepped up. Already, over $5000 has come in! There is more that has been promised.

That same Sunday, Meg spoke to the children about missions and 7 of our elementary aged children indicated that they believe God is leading and calling them to a life as a missionary! This includes my youngest daughter. We cannot just be willing to give and pray or even go ourselves on trips, we must be willing to send our very own into the world for God's purposes.

God is doing something incredible, and the best is yet to come!
